Nessonas (or Nesson) is a small village in the municipality of Tempi. It was formerly called the Mosque, because of the existence of a mosque. Near the village was the ancient Nesson Lake (the so-called Mavrolimni or Karatsaira) and the ancient town of Nesson. Nesson was the son of Thessaly, hence the alternative name "Nessonis" for Thessaly.
